Chris Botti Concert in Boulder!

This past weekend, Walt and I drove to Boulder to see a Chris Botti concert! He is an internationally famous trumpeter. He prides himself on bringing the best of internationally talented musicians to his band.

Walt has played the trumpet ever since he was a child. Held the first chair in high school and studied with a friend of Doc Severinsen. In fact, Doc hand selected Walt’s trumpet and signed his trumpet case. He went on to play in the Youth Stanford Connecticut Philharmonic. He thought about making it a career but ended up choosing a more normal path for his profession. And now Walt plays every single day. I get serenaded every evening while I fix dinner.

We discovered Christ Botti about a year ago. He is a very soulful jazz artist. We have all of his CDs and we listen to them most evenings during dinner. Chris used to be the lead trumpeter for Sting, who told Chris he was too good to stick with his band and should break out on his own. He has had tremendous success and now has an international following.

We got to thinking how great it would be to see and hear Chris live. We checked his schedule and Boulder was the closest venue. So off we went.

Chris did not disappoint. The show was just as good as his performance in Boston that we have watched on DVD! He brought in an amazing world famous violinist, guitar player, pianist, tenor sax player, opera singer and vocalist. Chris Botti’s sound and soulfulness were incredible! He can hit G above high C one handed, which is an amazing feat.

We hung around afterward and asked the manager if we could meet Chris. And we did! He even posed for this picture with us! We were so excited! This was the best concert I have ever seen and heard and may be the bet I will ever see! Check out his music. I believe you will love it as much as we do.
