How to Combine Working from Home and Traveling!

Like many people, our son, Kurt, was told by his boss last March that he could work from home at least until the end of 2020. He is young and single, so he decided that this was an opportunity to travel. He would work from Air BnBs or visit friends and family in different parts of the country and at the same time have a chance to explore.

Kurt, by the way, is a programmer for Magic Leap. They make virtual headsets and work on business applications. As long as he had his fancy computer and internet, he was good to go.

He lived in Florida, so he took off for DC to stay with one of his brothers for a couple of weeks in the DC area. They had many hours together hiking in the Shenandoah Valley and skateboarding, Kurt’s favorite pastime.

Next, he went north to explore the Catskills in New York. Again he spent a lot of time hiking and enjoying a new climate and landscape. He went on to Burlington, Vermont. He skateboarded along the causeways by Lake Champlain, all why filming himself and the scenery with his drone. He commented to us on what a great college town that Burlington is. He had forgotten that Walt and I had spent our college years in Vermont and that I had started at the University of Vermont in Burlington.

He moved on to Michigan and then the Chicago area to spend some time with friends. Following that adventure, he went south to Kansas to spend some time with his 90-year-old Grandmother for a week. Next was Texas to hang with his sister in San Antonio and a friend in Austin.

Around November, he found his way home to Albuquerque. We have four other kids who live here. He stayed for about three months and is heading home today.

But he will not go directly home to Florida. He will stop back in Texas and spend a week in New Orleans on his way back to the Ft Lauderdale and Miami area.
