I had needed cataract surgery for several months, but I kept procrastinating. Eventually, I realized that my tennis game was off because of my eyesight in my left eye. So last fall, I decided to go forward with the cataract surgery. I talked to many people and got referrals before I settled on the doctor with whom I felt comfortable and confident.
We discussed the difference between mono-focal and multifocal lenses. Since I only need to do one eye, the doc said I should go with the mono-focal lens. He told me that I needed to choose that mono-focus between distance and close up. Naturally, I decided on distance, but that also meant I would need to wear reading glasses for close-up computer work and, of course, reading.
A tennis friend of mine told me that she had surgery without any anesthesia and did just fine. So I discussed this with my doctor. He said we could go for it! The anesthesia helps patients with anxiety, but the eye drops numb the eye. There was also a shot in the eye, but I couldn’t feel that because of the numbing. The doctor talked me through the 10-minute operation. When I was done, I felt great immediately and went home.
So back to my tennis game. I am utterly amazed at how my game has improved! My volleys are 100% more accurate. My ground game is so much better also. I think I am playing better than at any time in my life and having so much fun playing this winter and spring.
Recovery from cataract surgery was quick and easy. Most everyone I have talked to about cataract surgery said they wish they had done it earlier. I agree most heartedly. And the reading glasses are not a big deal.
So I experienced my first ever surgery. I can relate this experience to making decisions in business. I studied my options, took a leap, and improved my life. I wanted to share this with my fellow entrepreneurs.
